Jaffaglass
Glass Bird
Glass Bird
Each Jaffaglass figurine is handmade in Mulbring, in the Hunter Valley, by a passionate local glass artist whose journey began over forty years ago with nothing more than a borrowed library book and a deep curiosity for the craft.
Over decades, his glassblowing practice has taken him across Australia, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand, refining his skills in studios and workshops from Melbourne to Port Moresby before returning home to create from his Hunter Valley studio.
Working exclusively with professional-grade Gaffer glass made from Tasmanian sand, and richly coloured glass sourced from world-renowned makers including Kugler and Reichenbach, each piece is individually shaped by hand. The process is physically demanding yet deeply meditative — formed in moments of intense focus, slowly cooled in an annealing oven, then carefully finished through cutting and polishing.
No two figurines are ever the same. Subtle variations in colour, shape and character are part of what makes each piece unique, with the final form often only revealed once the glass has fully cooled.
While the artist’s studio is not open to the public, these figurines offer a rare opportunity to bring home a piece of authentic Hunter Valley craftsmanship — a quiet celebration of patience, skill and the enduring beauty of handblown glass.
